Benhaven's Second Walk for Autism a Success!
The 2nd Annual Benhaven Walk for Autism took place on September 29, 2019 and was a fantastic success, thanks to beautiful weather, dozens of volunteers, all the participants, and the many many friends of Benhaven who donated to this cause. There were over 350 registered walkers and all of Benhaven's areas were well represented.
The people who live at Benhaven are able to benefit from a number of enrichment opportunities that were made possible by our wonderful donors and the funds raised at the Benhaven Walk.
At one home, the donation money was used to commission portraits of the residents. The artist, Tyler Morris, is an employee at Benhaven school, and the work is stunning.
For some residents, the donations were used to purchase educational and recreational materials such as Ipads and a "Go Talk" communication device. At some Group Homes, the donation money was used for the benefit of the household to purchase items such as an entertainment center, a new Christmas tree, an electric fireplace, patio, and other furniture. Two residents will be going on a much anticipated vacation to Florida supported by group home staff. A CCH resident was able to purchase a gym membership. Another home is utilizing the money to purchase the services of a Master Gardener to transform the backyard into a beautiful extension of the home.
All of these activities and items are made possible by the generous donations made to the Benhaven Walk for Autism. We are grateful to all of our donors and appreciative of their respect for Benhaven and the work we do!
