Benhaven Academy

Benhaven Academy was grateful for the excellent participation in Benhaven's 2nd Annual Walk on September 29, 2019. We were also excited to partner with the Amity Club for a Wine Tasting Event on October 17, 2019, at Anthony's Ocean View. In both cases, the outcome was not only financial support but, more importantly, a chance to enjoy time with families, friends, and colleagues! We hope to see many of you again next year as well as some new faces.

We have also received donations in memory of a loved one from friends and families of two of our students. We offer our condolences to the families and gratitude for the honor and recognition which the donations represent.

The funds from this year's fundraising activities are being used to improve our student's fitness skills and recreation activities. Mr. Naples, the physical education teacher, has guided us in the purchase of fitness equipment. We were able to get two workout machines and a weight scale that provides health information such as weight, BMI, and body fat percentage. The first machine we purchased was a Marcy Smith Machine and the second machine was a Marcy Pull-up Station, both of these machines have a wide variety of functions. These machines give Benhaven and the Physical Education Department the ability to focus on muscular strength, muscular endurance, and cardiovascular endurance. With the purchases of these machines, most of our students at Benhaven Academy have made personal goals to not only understand what it means to live a healthy lifestyle but also to put this knowledge into action.

Additionally, this past month we used the funds to do a school-wide bowling activity for students, families, and staff. We will be looking at other fitness opportunities and needs this summer.
