Benhaven Learning Network provides a cost-effective alternative when compared to enrolling a student in a special school. BLN develops customized services for those public school systems that wish to invest resources needed to have high quality and highly effective educational services. We support school districts in meeting state and federal requirements related to the education of students with autism. We emphasize the inclusion of students into school life as well as community life. This fits with our overall mission of helping people with autism participate in community life.

BLN began in 2001 as a Consultative Group to provide support to individuals with ASD within their public school settings. As time passed, the need for additional support services for these individuals and their families became apparent. In 2008, the Benhaven Learning Network expanded to offer comprehensive support by opening Benhaven Academy.

Currently, Benhaven is expanding in the area of Transition Services for individuals who have graduated from high school and young adults who have recently turned 21.  This model supports people taking college classes, working at meaningful jobs and accessing an array of recreational opportunities in the community.  This highly individualized support is having a significant impact on helping young adults develop confidence and independence.

At present, BLN has consulted with many of the school districts in Connecticut as well as local Birth to Three programs.
