Benhaven’s Individual and Family Support program is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and adults with a disability (usually including an autism spectrum diagnosis) and the families with whom they reside.

The IFS Program Provides:

  • Behavioral supports
  • Functional assessment
  • Individual supports
  • Life skills coaching
  • Vocational Assessments
  • Job Placement
  • Mentoring
  • Individual Day Supports
  • Assistance with continuing education
  • Support for adults served through DSS Autism Waiver
  • Social and recreational opportunities
  • Opportunities for physical fitness

Benhaven’s Individual and Family Support program began in 1996 with a respite grant from the Department of Developmental Disabilities and Department of Social Services. The program helps individuals to improve their quality of life, and teaches their families skills to support and assist them.

Individuals will...

  • Increase independence, communication, and socially appropriate behaviors
  • Increase their competency in activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Improve self-care skills
  • Learn to use existing resources in the community
  • Establish structure through routines and schedules
  • Expand relationships with both staff members and the local community
  • Obtain and maintain employment
