Hello Managers and Staff,

I had a conversation with our Medical Director, Dr. Joe Avni-Singer yesterday. He asked that I reach out to all of Benhaven’s staff about the importance of social distancing while NOT at work.

First, we want to say thank you to all of you for your dedication and support of our residents, participants and students during this unprecedented event. It is surely affecting all of us on many levels both at home and at work. We appreciate you all very much, we make up a great team, and we will get through this together!

Second, the health and safety of everyone we serve and our staff is our highest priority. With that being said, in the midst of this pandemic, we have to be concerned with potential exposures while both at work and while not at work. We understand that staying at home and social distancing is difficult and not at all normal for most of us. However, with increased community transmission being evident, Dr. Joe has asked that we encourage ALL of our staff to practice strict social distancing while NOT at work.

The current guidelines on SOCIAL DISTANCING state that at all times possible we should:

Avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people

Avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants and food courts- USE DRIVE-UP, PICKUP, or DELIVERY OPTIONS

Avoid discretionary travel, shopping trips and social visits

Do not visit nursing homes or retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance

Wash your hands often, especially after touching any frequently used item or surface

Avoid touching your face

Sneeze or cough into a tissue, or the inside of your elbow

Disinfect frequently used items and surfaces as much as possible

Finally, due to the nature of the wonderful work we do at Benhaven, many staff have a special responsibility to maintain their work schedule and cannot work from home. To that end, we must do our best and do our part to follow ALL of the above guidelines in order to avoid a possible exposure. In turn, we will succeed in keeping our residents, our co-workers and even our own families healthy and well!

Thank you all and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We can do this!
