To Families and Friends of Benhaven,
I am pleased to report to you that the Board of Directors, at the recommendation of the Search Committee has chosen the new Executive Director to succeed Kathryn du Pree. Although we are sad to see Kathryn leave her position, I believe we have found a successor who will provide continuity and capable leadership. I am also grateful that he will be able to begin employment quickly, allowing for several weeks of transition while Kathryn is still available.
The position of Executive Director has been offered to Ken Cabral who has accepted the offer. Ken will begin employment on February 13th and transition with Kathryn though the end of February.
Ken was most recently employed as President/Chief Executive Officer for Harc, Inc. from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, for over fifteen years, he held several positions with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, including Director of Family Services Strategy, Director of Quality Improvement, Individual and Family Support Resource Manager, Supervisor of Case Management, and Case Manager. He also served eight years with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families as a Children and Families Regional Administrator and Project Manager. He worked for three years for Washington, D.C. as Director of Operations for the District’s Developmental Disability Administration. He holds a Master of Education degree from Antioch New England Graduate School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social and Rehabilitative Services from Assumption College.
Ken brings extensive experience in the field of developmental disabilities including work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. He has experience working directly with individuals and families as a case manager, supervising staff and programs for a range of age groups, developing programs, and overseeing a nonprofit agency similar to Benhaven. The Board has confidence in his ability to lead our organization in its future endeavors. I am confident he will have the support of the Management Team and earn your respect.
