Part-Time School Social Worker - Benhaven Academy
Benhaven Academy strives to provide a welcoming, challenging academic environment for students who learn best in small, individualized settings. Programs for students are shaped through a continuous collaborative, person-centered framework involving parents, school district personnel, Academy staff, and students, as appropriate. This collaborative process provides input and direction in developing the Individualized Educational Program (IEP). The school offers a core academic curriculum delivered by certified subject area teachers and specialized instruction based on the IEP from a certified special education. Our goal is to develop appropriate supports which enables students to thrive by developing the skills and perseverance to transition to a successful future. We provide culturally informed counseling, speech, and support for all students to foster social and emotional competence. Benhaven Academy is seeking a part-time counselor to join our clinical team. The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following essential functions:
- Help and contribute to developing and implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that supports all students through a school counseling curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, community partnership, and referrals.
- Facilitate student, social/emotional, and career development through a comprehensive school counseling program that the school administration supports through individual counseling, small group sessions, collaboration with other related services such as speech and behavior interventionists, crisis interventions, and referrals.
- Collaborate with teachers, administration, parents, community agencies, and specialists to support the needs of students and parents.
- Provide instruction in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Assertiveness, mindfulness practices, social thinking, and various areas of social/emotional competence and functioning.
Qualifications: CT certification for school social worker (071).
