Individual and Family Supports Provider

Requirements and major job duties. Respite providers fill a variety of needs for individuals with disabilities and their families. Potential providers are matched with an individual, depending on their needs and interests. Schedules vary from person to person, with most individuals receiving 10 to 15 hours of service each week. The majority of respite hours tend to occur in the late afternoon or early evening hours, and on weekends. Some of the qualities that Benhaven looks for in a respite provider include the following:

• Strong desire to work with people with disabilities
• Ability to pass stringent background check
• Familiarity with concepts of Individual Supports and Positive Behavior Management
• Knowledgeable about their community
• Must have reliable transportation

• Learning new skills
• Becoming active in their community
• Finding paid or volunteer opportunities
• Engaging in sports or physical activities
• Taking classes
• Exploring new recreational options
• Pursuing a dream

Salary and benefits: Starting salary is $14.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
